Inductive Bible Study

A method for studying Scripture: observation, interpretation, application.

Inductive Bible study is a three-step method that lets Scripture speak for itself before consulting commentaries or other resources.

Step 1: Observation

Read the passage carefully and ask: What does it say? Look for repeated words, contrasts, comparisons, lists, cause-and-effect, and key terms. Use Rhema's highlighting to mark patterns.

Step 2: Interpretation

Ask: What does it mean? Consider the historical context, literary genre, and how the passage fits into the larger book and biblical narrative. Use commentary sources and OT→NT connections to deepen understanding.

Step 3: Application

Ask: How does it apply to my life? Write a personal note about what God is teaching you and how you can respond.

Tip:Use Rhema's notes feature to record your observations, interpretations, and applications as you study.
